When Patricia Layzell Ward first produced her catalogue of our ‘old Company’ archive, as kept at Caernarfon Records Office, it was offered for sale on a disc. Time has moved on and we believe that we should encourage more people to both see and research our wonderful archive. Therefore, we have placed a pdf copy of Pat’s magnum opus for your use on this website.
The catalogue runs to over 1800 pages. All item numbers have an XD97 prefix which relates to its position in Caernarfon Archives. Finding what you want couldn’t be easier, with the ability to make a keyword search, although as Pat remarks in her introduction, spelling may change for the same item –eg ‘ break’ and ‘brake’.
The first two pages give a general introduction and then there is a fifteen page contents list, which shows you the structure , and lead item number, for each section.
So please make use of this valuable resource and come and see our archive.
