For those of you who thought oil-firing was a 70s innovation on the FR, Peter Dennis’ article, ‘Slow-Burner – The Century of FR oil-firing experimentation’ will be of particular interest, looking back to the turn of the last century when the idea was first considered.
There’s also a report on a preliminary excavation carried out in April at Boston Lodge on the site of the former stables, work undertaken to help inform the funding application to the National Lottery Heritage Fund. It gives a real sense of how Boston Lodge has grown and developed over the past 200 years.
