[edit]Background

Numbered Van 1 until 1999.
Details of the current Van 1 (the "curly roofed van") can be found here.

Van 7 is a replica of converted Quarrymen's Carriage Van 6. Old Van 6 was numbered as the first Van 1 in the preservation era and had a balcony at each end, as does this replica, unlike the current Van 6 which has only one balcony. It does incorporate some metal parts from the original though unfortunately not the balcony rails which are on other vehicles.

Used on a 'Greaser's Express' (a regular working to grease points, levers and frames along the whole length of the line). The train, consisting of Moelwyn, Van 7, wagon 63 and Van 6 are seen here at Glanypwll*Date:17th April 2005 *Photo: Tim Goodspeed
