(Meaning 'Lip of the Road' )
Minffordd Station opened on 1st August 1872 and closed on 15th September 1939. It reopened under the new Preservation Company on 19th May 1956. It is at a height of 85ft and a distance of 2 miles 5 chains from Porthmadog. Minffordd is an exchange station with the BR Machynlleth to Pwllheli line. Predating the station's construction there was a horse station just north east at Cae Ednyfed.
The station buildings date from 1880, but there was a small wooden building on the "down" platform before this. This building was demolished in 1956 and a replica was erected in the spring 2002, this being shortlisted in the National Railway Heritage Awards (2002).
Minffordd Yard can only be accessed by rail from the down line, using the Mineral line, from Minffordd Station.
