Leonard Heath Humphrys has a claim to being founder of the Ffestiniog Railway Society and instigator of the whole affair. It was he who called the now famous Bristol meeting in September 1951 which was attended by 12 people including Mr. Gilbert, Victor Mitchell and Allan Garraway. Following National Service he became Asst. Secretary to the Society and later Secretary and a founder Director of the FRS Ltd. He was President of the London Area Group and, most deservedly, an honorary life member of the Society.
