[edit]Background
The Festiniog Railway has three carriages with open sides. These are added to service trains in good weather, to offer passengers an alternative to travelling in an enclosed carriage. The open coaches are usually placed imediately behind the locomotive. Uually known as the "Tourist Cars", these carriages were built at Boston Lodge. When constructed some of the half height doors from Carriage 23 were fitted to this carriage and Carriage 37.
Carriage 38 has been repainted in green and ivory livery. Apparently some parts of the original no 37 were used in the construction of this carriage
