[edit]Background
Similar to carriages 2040, 2041 and 2042 construction work on this vehicle started at Boston Lodge on 7 July 2006, followed shortly after by carriages 2044 and 2045.
Steelwork for 2043 arrived at Boston Lodge at end of June 2006. It will be of the longer 13m length used for Pullman coach Bodysgallen 2115. 2043 will contain 33 standard 3rd class seats, plus 2 seats which can fold away for wheelchairs. The extra length will be used to provide double doors (as per 2090) at one end only to provide easy access for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Construction started on 03/07/06 and 3 weeks later the underframe was noted as being at an advanced stage.
