[edit]Background

In the 1960's the Festiniog Railway began construction of a series of modern wooden bodied coaches at Boston Lodge. The kinetic profile was based on that of the restored former Lynton and Barnstaple Carriage 14. As a result these coaches are known on the railway as "The Barns". With an original design life of only 10 years, at the age of more than 30 years this veteran was showing advanced signs of age, and as such was completly rebodied in 2002. The new body is identical that of Carriage 107.
