A commentary from Geoff Plumb on photo 2 above
11th August 1963 ... [the] running shed and Glan-y-Mor yard bask in the summer sunshine. The track running out of the picture bottom left led to the gunpowder store sheds and the coach on the left is derelict No. 10. The three-way stub point that had been part of the layout at Porthmadog Harbour station had been replaced and was now in the process of being relaid in Glan-y-Mor yard (this was part of my first volunteering work as a 15 year old - it took most of the two weeks I was there to relay the pointwork!). In the centre is the cab from "Earl of Merioneth", to the right under the tarpaulin is (I think) "Welsh Pony" while to the right of that is the engine that came from Harrogate Gas Works. In the works yard the tanks from "Earl of Merioneth" can be seen, ex-Penrhyn Railway 0-4-0ST "Blanche" is on the loco preparation and disposal track, together with "Prince". The long shed to the left was the running shed for working locos. It is also a high tide as some of the grazing cattle in the background have discovered!"
