This page is a record of accidents involving the railway, that have some published information (i.e. it is not direct from the "Accident Book").

It will record accidents and incidents recorded in company days only, that is until 1946 and the suspension of rail operations. It exists to provide appropriate links within this wiki, and the source of information. More detailed records exist on some entries, accessed by clicking on the date reference

Where names are referenced, an entry will appear there.

The information source is identified by the initial 3 letters of publication the data appears in (see below for key). Additional info may come from other sources

Dates are in format YYYY.MM.DD (all numeric) to keep in order. Where only a partial knowledge of the date exists then missing numbers replaced by x

Boyd 1865.01.05 John Roberts (I) (an engine cleaner) jumped off the engine near Boston Lodge, tripped and was struck by the tender and first carriage
IHJ/xxx 1872.08.29 John Lloyd Exited carriage and fell onto Cambrian platform
IHJ/044 1876.10.03 door of empty wagon opened in Moelwyn tunnel, derailing wagon and breaking several chairs.
IHJ/044 1876.10.11 empty slate wagons and loaded coal wagons ran away from Duffws caused by guard not securing them. Collided with stop block at Glan y Pwll Junction.
IHJ/044 1876.10.19 Loco(Mountaineer) hit stop block at Duffws - derailed and track damaged

IHJ/084 1911.07.19 Palmerston broke its driving axle - it was subsequently repaired at Glan-y-Pwll with the parts sent down to Boston lodge for repair and then returned to be refitted
